Shiv Parivar Brass Idol

Shiva and Parvati seated together on a rock with Ganesha in the centre and Kartikeya beside them, his peacock at their feet. The whole family is cast in a single piece of brass and finished in antique gold.

From the brass workshops of Tikamgarh, in the Bundelkhand region of Madhya Pradesh, where metal is cast, chased and polished by hand. Chosen piece by piece for Saptadhārā.

Caring for it

• Dust with a soft dry cloth.
• To bring back the shine, polish occasionally with a little brass cleaner or lemon and salt, then wipe dry.
• Keep away from damp to avoid dark spots.

Cast and finished by hand, so small variations in finish and detail are a mark of the maker, not a flaw.
