Nataraja Brass Idol

Shiva as Nataraja, the lord of dance, mid-step within a ring of flame. The flowing locks, the raised foot and the flame-tipped arch are cast in brass and finished in a warm antique gold.

From the brass workshops of Tikamgarh, in the Bundelkhand region of Madhya Pradesh, where metal is cast, chased and polished by hand. Chosen piece by piece for Saptadhārā.

Caring for it

• Dust with a soft dry cloth.
• To bring back the shine, polish occasionally with a little brass cleaner or lemon and salt, then wipe dry.
• Keep away from damp to avoid dark spots.
