Narmada · now open
Chanderi – woven in the hills of Chanderi since the 13th century. Sheer and light, with fine gold zari butis. Prized by Mughal nobles and marked with the seal of Bundela kings. A protected Geographical Indication since 2005.
Maheshwari – woven in Maheshwar on the Narmada, a tradition that grew under Rani Ahilyabai Holkar in the 18th century. Soft silk-cotton, quiet stripes and checks, and the signature reversible border.
